In this opening segment, Jerry takes his students through the process of under painting each segment of the painting. Beginning with the sky, then the background trees, waterfall, middle ground, body of water, and then the foreground rocks. He finishes by adding darker trees in background.
In this segment, Jerry shows his students how to paint in the intermediate details, like more distinct, distant trees, adding first layers of highlights on waterfall, paint ripples on water and shows how to dry brush fog and mist at base of waterfall. He finishes up by painting in the foreground rocks.
In this final segment, Jerry takes his students through the process of detailing the entire painting from background to foreground. First dabbing in the fall colored leaves of the background trees, then finishing with the script brush for the tree limbs, tall weeds and foreground bushes.
Mottle sky, foreground, and painting mountains in this opening segment. Jerry takes his students through the process of creating a semi-stormy sky, by using a special mottling technique. Then he shows how to block in the very distant mountains. Finally he under-paints the entire foreground with intermediate values of grayish greens.
Clouds. In this segment, Jerry takes his viewers through the process of creating more distinct clouds by using a wet-on-dry technique and a scumbling process to suggest different layers of clouds. Then he shows how to dry-brush a much brighter glow at the sun light area and soft sunrays. Jerry now finishes this segment blocking in the bushes and trees.
In this segment, Jerry under-paints the distant waterfall and stream. Then begins highlighting the middle and foreground areas. Now he blocks in the 2 large tree trunks. He finishes this segment by adding a few small rocks in the middle and foreground.
In this segment, Jerry shows his students how to use a very loose scumbling technique to paint in the leaves of the two large trees with a special emphasis on the use of good negative space to create good form. He then brightens the highlights of the stream, background area, and middle and foreground grasses.
Final details, highlights, cabin, etc. In the final segment, Jerry paints in the cabin in the background then details and highlights it. Now he puts the final accent highlights on the large trees, waterfall, and middle and foreground. Now he finishes up the painting using the script brush for weeds and miscellaneous details.
In this opening segment, Jerry shows his viewers how to under-paint the background of the forest with the large Hake Brush using a gradation of colors and values. Then he shows how to under-paint the reflections in the water using the Hake Brush. He finishes the program with under-painting the middle ground and rocky area.

Final highlights and details. In this final episode, Jerry shows his students how to detail and highlight the large autumn tree with much brighter colors. Now he finishes the painting with much brighter highlights on the rocks, water, grass and trees.
In this segment, Jerry begins this beautiful prairie painting by giving a very detailed explanation of how the proper use of the value system creates great depth. Also, he explains how to use impressionistic techniques to under-paint and block in the background.
Continuing with Osage Prairie Summer, Jerry now shows his students how to continue using very loose, impressionistic strokes and other techniques to continue under-painting and blocking in the middle and foreground. Then, shows how to add minor highlights to create the so-called hot spots to lead your eye to specific areas of the painting.
