Well, what can I say? I am a sucker for winding country roads. Every time I take a road trip across this beautiful land, I cannot help but seek out and take the backroads if possible. You never know what is going to be around that next corner or over that next hillside. In this study, this stretch of dirt road close to my studio is an artist’s paradise of color in the late Spring with seemingly un-ending winding, masses of wildflowers, rolling hills, old barns, and much more. This is a great study of using multiple tones, colors, and how to make a road look flat. So, take a trip and enjoy a winding road through nature’s paradise!

WEEDS GALORE 01

There are all kinds of ways to use weeds in your landscape paintings. They work well as a main feature, as a secondary filler, or as an eye-stopper. So many options! With these “Weeds Galore” studies I wanted to show you the different techniques for creating the taller, more close-up weeds that are more of a feature.
