High Country Mountain Scene, Running Stream, Pine Trees, Rocks, Flowers (Late Spring) 01

Back to assignments

Season – Summer
Size – 18 x 24 Acrylic – Horizontal Format

This is a beautiful, full color, full-valued painting and I will be looking for the following things. First, I will be looking for the correct values of the distant mountains and the correct value of the first layer of distant pine trees. The other important thing I will be looking for is the proper elliptical shape of the running stream so that it looks flat. Also, I will pay close attention to the tonal values of the water and placement of all of the boulders/rocks so that your eye flows naturally through the painting instead of bouncing through the painting from object to object – and of course proper compliments and color harmony.

Value changes – this painting should have 6-7 value changes.

Loving this version, Mike, Mike, Mike -- mainly because I can see it this time! LOL! You passed this time with flying speed! Keep the feedback coming -- I told Eric that you 'try to break things' and he said "that's good!" Donna

Mike, I'd like to say you did a fine job on this but I don't see an image. So I'm not passing you at this point -- you get a 65% this time. Try again. Thanks. Donna
